Jakarta, August 29th 2024 – PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk. (“The Company/HUMI”), a maritime shipping company listed under the stock symbol “HUMI,” has completed the acquisition of two tug boats, TB Anugerah Bersama 5 and TB Anugerah Bersama 6. This fleet expansion is part of the company’s commitment to continuously improve services in Eastern Indonesia, particularly at the Ports of Tarakan and Kendari. These two vessels were previously leased by its subsidiary, PT Humpuss Transportasi Curah (HTC), and it is expected that their acquisition will enhance the company’s profitability through better operational efficiency, even though it may not directly impact HTC’s revenue growth.
By deciding to acquire these two vessels, HTC not only reduces ongoing rental expenses but also improves operational efficiency and control.
“The purchase of TB Anugerah Bersama 5 and TB Anugerah Bersama 6 is a critical step in our strategy to enhance operational efficiency. While this move may not immediately increase revenue, we are confident that the reduction in rental costs and the improvement in operational efficiency will positively impact the company’s profitability,” said Tirta Hidayat, President Director of HUMI.
In terms of revenue, this purchase will not significantly impact HTC’s revenue, as TB Anugerah Bersama 5 and TB Anugerah Bersama 6 have already been in regular operation during their lease period. However, from a profitability perspective, the positive effects will be immediately felt due to the reduction in rental costs and more efficient asset management. This approach allows the company to maintain revenue stability while gradually increasing profit margins.
“We have considered that the impact of this acquisition focuses more on strengthening the bottom line of HTC, one of our subsidiaries. With stable existing revenue, HTC can now concentrate more on profit improvement through efficiency and better asset management,” said Tirta.
Supporting Port Operations in Tarakan and Kendari
TB Anugerah Bersama 5 and TB Anugerah Bersama 6 will continue their operations at the Ports of Tarakan and Kendari, which are key hubs in the national logistics network. With full ownership of these vessels, HUMI, through its subsidiary HTC, can ensure the continuity of operational services at these two ports. This move is also expected to contribute to improved logistics efficiency and the competitiveness of ports in Eastern Indonesia.
Both TB Anugerah Bersama 5 and TB Anugerah Bersama 6 are equipped with engines and power ratings of 2×1000 HP, meeting market demands. With this capacity, these tug boats are capable of handling large vessels entering and exiting the ports, as well as facilitating safer and more efficient maneuvers in crowded port areas.
