Supporting the Transition Towards Green Energy, North Sumatra to Bali Maximize LNG Utilization

In support of the government’s efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) era target in 2060, the use of environmentally friendly or low emission based energy raw materials has begun to be implemented in several regions in Indonesia today.

This was conveyed by the Main Director of PT Jawa Satu Regas (JSR) Indra Trigha in a podcast broadcast on the YouTube channel owned by PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional (HUMI), namely the Lighthouse Seafarer Network, Saturday, September 17, 2022.

“I see that currently people are starting to use LNG. Those are North Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo and Bali. So many provinces in our country have used gas as fuel for electricity generation,” explained Indra in the podcast.

Furthermore, Indra said that the Province of Bali is currently one of the regions in Indonesia that has utilized gas as a material for power generation with the largest composition compared to other regions or provinces in Indonesia.

“Maybe it’s almost 100%, because PLN is promoting Bali as an example (city) of green energy, this also coincides with making Bali the venue for the G20 international event,” added Indra.

The increasing need for natural gas in various provinces in the country for the needs of power plants in line with the commitment to use environmentally friendly energy has made the demand for LNG transportation or shipments also increase.

This is of course positively welcomed by HUMI as one of the pioneers of energy transportation or shipping service providers in Indonesia.

“We welcome the steps taken by a number of provinces in Indonesia by starting to maximize the use of LNG as fuel for power plants. Through GTSI, we are trying to maximize the LNG shipping segment to respond to the high demand,” said the Main Director of HUMI, Dedi Hudayana in a press statement.

For information, JSR is a consortium company consisting of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI), Marubeni Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Mitsui OSK Lines and GTSI’s holding company, PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk (HITS).
