Indonesia is listed as one of the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporters in the world in 2021, in eighth place to be exact.
Indonesia has played its role in the world LNG market since 1977 by being one of the largest LNG exporters in the world. This was conveyed by the Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Dwi Soetjipto.
“‘In managing gas reserves, we are doing our best to find more gas resources and turn them into reserves,”‘ said Dwi, quoted Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
Based on the release of Databoks, currently Australia is leading as the country with the largest number of LNG exports, reaching 108.1 billion cubic meters.
In the second position is Qatar with an LNG export volume of 106.8 billion cubic meters last year. After that, there is the United States (US) with an LNG export volume of 95 billion cubic meters in the same period.
The next position is occupied by Russia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Algeria. Meanwhile, Indonesia occupies the eighth position as the world’s largest LNG exporting country with a total of 14.6 billion cubic meters in 2021.
LNG is one of the energy commodities that are in demand, especially by developed countries that focus on environmental issues. Liquefied natural gas is proving to be a clean energy source compared to coal. In addition, the price of LNG is also quite affordable, so it can be relied on as an alternative energy source.
