No Need to Worry! A sailor can also work life balance you know!

Work-Life Balance of Sailors

Pursuing a career as a sailor or crew member is still something that needs to be thought twice for most people. The reason is, when we hear about the seafaring profession, the first thing that will come to our minds is usually about the work system that takes a long time to months on board.

On that basis, a question arises that may often be asked by children today when they want to determine the choice of a career for the job they want to do, “‘Does a work life balance work?”‘

In response to this, one of the Humpuss Group sailors who serves as Chief Engineer, Rick Antonio, revealed the seafarer’s work system to the public in a podcast broadcast on the Lighthouse Seafarer Network Youtube channel.

“‘Thank God it’s balanced, yes, we are on duty for two months, then the next two months on vacation,”‘ Rick explained in the podcast broadcast.

Not only is the work system considered balanced, the sailors printed by PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional (HUMI) through PT MCS International (MCSI) also mentioned that there are various types of exciting activities that can be done on the ship after working hours are over.

“‘Yes, it can be Netflix, it can also be nobar (watch together), or there is an opportunity, sometimes we can go fishing, sis. Then we burn it together with other seafarers,”‘ said one of the captains of the LNG Ship, Humpuss Intermoda Group, Capt. Wales Hendra Putra in podcasts.

In addition, with the sophistication of today’s technology, being a sailor does not rule out the possibility to still be able to communicate with family, friends or loved ones who are on the mainland via a smartphone. The sailors can freely communicate via chat or video call to release the longing.

The various exciting activities that can be done are an additional indicator to break the stigma that being a sailor does not have a work-life balance. In fact, even though sailing in the middle of the sea for months, sailors can still do various other exciting activities that are usually done on land.
