The reliability of Indonesian maritime human resources (HR) can no longer be seen in one eye. This was proven by the successful gassing-up by the Indonesian crew through the Java One floating storage and regasification facility or FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) in Cilamaya, West Java.
This was conveyed by the Main Director of PT Jawa Satu Regas (JSR) as the owner of the Jawa Satu FSRU in a podcast broadcast on the Lighthouse Seafarer Network YouTube channel owned by PT Humpuss Maritime Internasional (HUMI).
“‘This is a great pride for Indonesia, for the first time in the world, a gassing-up being carried out at the FSRU, at the Java One FSRU,”‘ said JSR Main Director Indra Trigha.
Gassing-up is one of the important steps that must be carried out before carrying out LNG loading and unloading activities from an LNG storage unit facility. Indra explained that this activity is generally carried out at an LNG terminal on the mainland.

“‘This activity is usually carried out at LNG terminals, for example at the LNG terminals we have such as in Tangguh, Bontang, Arun or in Singapore. But this time we will try it directly at the Java One FSRU,”‘ explained Indra further in the Podcast.
Indra also stated that the gassing-up carried out through the Java One FSRU had a number of very high risks and had never been carried out in any country.
“‘With a very high risk, if the oxygen or CO2 released during the gassing-up gets back into the tank, the LNG storage tank will freeze, it must be taken to the shipyard to be sawed off, the risk is very high,”‘ added Indra.
The success of the gassing-up process carried out by JSR with the crew of a local blooded ship at the Java One FSRU proves that the Indonesian maritime workforce has high competence that is not inferior to foreign maritime personnel.
For information, JSR itself is a consortium company consisting of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, Marubeni Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Mitsui OSK Lines and HUMI’s parent, namely PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk (HITS).
JSR is currently actively responsible for operating and managing one of the largest floating storage and regasification unit facilities or FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) in Indonesia, namely FSRU Jawa Satu in Cilamaya, West Java.
