Public interest in the maritime world is currently getting higher from time to time. This is also directly proportional to the increasing interest and number of the number of seafaring professions each year.
According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in 2021 the number of seafarers in the world will be 1,892,725. That number also jumped to 14.8% compared to 2015. The average addition of the number of seafaring professions each year is around 40,000 people.
To respond to the high public interest in knowing the seafaring profession and the maritime industry, PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional (HUMI) contributes by providing a credible and effective communication channel about the maritime world through the Youtube platform.
The YouTube channel ‘Lighthouse Seafarer Network’, which was officially launched on June 25, 2022, is one of HUMI’s efforts to present an interactive communication channel that aims to spread knowledge and information about maritime affairs to the wider community.
This is as explained by the President Director of HUMI, Dedi Hudayana, who explained that the platform will become one of the important digital channel hubs regarding the maritime world.
“Lighthouse Seafarer Network will become the axis of maritime digital channels, as well as a democratic arena of information exchange without relying on demographics. All parties can exchange information about maritime affairs freely, but responsibly,” said Dedi.
An example of content that is currently available and can be enjoyed by the public is the video podcast of the Humpuss Intermoda Group sailors who tell of interesting experiences as a sailor while sailing.
