HUMI and IMO Maritime Regulations

PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional (HUMI) is a company under the Humpuss Intermoda Group which is engaged in the distribution and energy infrastructure as well as the port ecosystem.

Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) cargo transportation services are one of the business units currently occupied by the Company through its subsidiary PT GTS Internasional Tbk (GTSI). This business unit serves LNG transportation services with domestic and international routes.

In transporting energy cargo, HUMI ships always adhere to a number of global maritime regulations that are currently in effect, including national regulations.

On international shipping, all maritime regulations are issued by the world maritime agency under the United Nations (UN) called the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The rules issued by IMO cover all matters relating to aspects of work safety to the prevention of environmental pollution in the waters. In carrying out its activities, IMO is assisted by several technical committees to maximize its function as a world maritime institution.

Until now, IMO has contributed greatly to the world’s maritime industry through a series of important conventions that have been ratified by countries in the world and become a guide for seafarers in carrying out every shipping activity.

Some of the important conventions include the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention 1974/1978, Marine Pollution Prevention (MARPOL) Convention 1983/1978 and the Standard of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Convention 1978.

If detailed one by one, the SOLAS Convention is an IMO regulation that discusses aspects of ship safety including construction, navigation and communication. The MARPOL Convention discusses aspects of environmental sustainability in waters.

Meanwhile, the STCW Convention is a rule that contains various minimum requirements for education or training that must be taken and carried out by ship crews to be able to work as sailors on ships.

Like other business actors in the shipping sector, HUMI is subject to and always refers to a number of international maritime rules issued by IMO in carrying out every shipping activity carried out in international waters.

Evidence that the Company complies with and complies with a series of rules issued by IMO, for example by the certification of all crew members operating the HUMI fleet according to the STCW Convention standard set by IMO in 1978.
